Efficiency is essential says man at the helm of the capital’s port PDF Print E-mail

Apart from his thirteen years at sea, Enda Connellan has worked in Dublin Port all his life, starting out as Assistant Harbourmaster before advancing to become Harbourmaster in 1991. He was appointed Chief Executive of the then Dublin Port and Docks Board in 1994, three years before the government established Dublin Port Company as a corporate entity. He has a BA in economics and politics from UCD, a diploma in Arbitration and an MBA, also from UCD.

In an interview with Inshore Ireland, Enda Connellan discusses the impact the economic downturn in having on the port.

How has the port been affected by the downturn?
We do about 30 million tonnes here. We’re down about 4% last year, and we’re down about 12% this year so far – so the down turn has got worse.
