Two marine projects in Killybegs, Co Donegal, have been unveiled and described as a ‘major vote of confidence’ in the harbour and seafood industry.

A 30m investment by United Fish Industries (UFI) underpins significant redevelopment of the fishmeal plant and is a “serious long-term commitment to seafood in Ireland’ by the parent company Pelagia, remarked Michael Creed, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine.

Minister Creed also opened the State-funded small craft harbour of 63 berths for boats up to 15m and a single berth in excess of 20m.

“This is a great development for Killybegs Harbour and will complement the existing world-class facilities in place for our large fishing vessels,” he added.
